Gov: Half of new tech spending must be made with SME suppliers

The Government is pushing hard for more tech spending to go through British SME vendors, but is this really happening yet…..?

As The Register article says (and everyone knows all too well), “The majority of government business, however, continues to go through a select band of mega suppliers – multinational integrators and tech vendors”

Coming from a British SME vendor, and a real technology success story from these shores, edgeNEXUS Accelerating Load Balancer is a great fit for the Public Sector and we’re very proud to work with a number of bodies within the NHS, local government, police and education sector. In particular, the predominance of Microsoft applications like Exchange and, increasingly, Lync within these organisations, all of which need advanced load balancing to ensure resilience and performance, makes edgeNEXUS a great fit

The UK government is trying to accelerate procurement reforms and hit ambitious targets by directing at least half of all new IT spending to small biz suppliers before the next general election.
